Choreographer Richard Siegal
Choreographer Richard Siegal, an American choreographer, director, and teacher, is known for impeccable musical intellect within his dance work and his multi-media collaborative nature. Richard has generated international attention for a body of work that includes music, visual media, choreography, and performance. He has been commissioned by Festival d’Automne, RencontresChorégraphiques, Ballett Frankfurt, and Danspace Project. He has received The Mouson Award from KünstlerhausMousonturm, a New York “Bessie” Award, the S.A.C.D. Prize from Monaco Dance Forum, a Beaumarchais, and The German National Theater “Der Faust” Award. Richard is a MacDowell fellow and honorary member of The Bolshoi Ballet’s Benoit de la Danse.
Company As Los Angeles based repertory dance company, Bodytraffic is committed to creating and sharing the best of contemporary dance today. The company recruits talent from around the world to create world-class contemporary dance by today’s most distinctive choreographic voices. BODYTRAFFIC has surged to the forefront of the concert dance world: named one of 25 to Watch by Dance Magazine in 2013, called “the company of the future” by the Joyce Theater Foundation, and recently served as Cultural Ambassadors of the U.S. as part of DanceMotion USA.
Work An exuberant homage to American jazz standards, o2Joy is, as its title suggests, an expression of sheer joy through music and movement.
