The first Busan International Dance Festival (also known as BIDF) took place under the name of Busan International Beach Dance Festival (Special stage at Gwangalli Beach) in 2005. And it was renamed to BIDF (Special stage at Haeundae Beach) together with foundation of its Organizing Committee in 2008. The BIDF has become an invaluable milestone for Korean dance scene through encouraging international exchange and partnership. The 10th BIDF in this year is organized in collaboration and close relationship with the representatives and officials from Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Busan Metropolitan City and other government bodies as well as foreign diplomatic missions and their respective officials. Since 2009, BIDF has been focusing on AK (Art Korea) 21 Performance for Development of International Choreographer, and we pave the way for young choreographers who produce novel and unique works through hosting competition every year. Truly, BIDF creates atmosphere for international cultural exchanges by presenting selected works from both home and abroad on its official stage.
