It is with excitement and pleasure that I join you in celebrating the 12 th Busan International Dance Festival in one spring night of June. I would like to extend my gratitude to the dancers who came here from home and abroad to participate in the festival and the citizens of Busan who have waited for this opening of the festival.

Since its launch with the title of Busan International Beach Dance Festival in 2005, Busan International Dance Festival has established as one of the flagship festivals of the marine cultural city Busan and now marks its 12 th anniversary.

This is the only dance festival in the world taking place at a beach stage against the perfect backdrop of beautiful sea.
The festivities have offered the platforms for renowned dance companies from home and abroad to perform and have drawn great attention from people in and out of the country.

This year, under the theme of ‘Discover Busan, A delightful universe of dance.’ 57 dance companies from 11 countries participate in the festival to perform artistic and popular dances.

I hope you experience thrilling moments by enjoying gorgeous dances at the beach in a romantic atmosphere on a balmy night.
